Beckett Dazzles Despite No One In Boston Watching
Not to be out done by the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in a bazillion years, Josh Beckett decided to pitch the best game of his Boston life down in Tampa yesterday. 9 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, and only 97 pitches. Not to shabby. So when does the rest of the world just hit the mercy button and stop coming to play against Boston teams?
In all seriousness, I would have been real pissed off if Beckett had tossed a perfect game last night. I mean, how selfish can the guy be? Obviously no one in the city was watching, nor cared what he was doing. Just go about your business per usual with 7 strong innings and get the win like it was any other night. Luckily, Reid Brignac reached on a slow roller to third base in the third inning or we were going to have some serious problems.
Now winners of 10/11, the Red Sox look to be unstoppable. Everything seems to be playing out just like they wrote it up in the winter. Whenever the pitching doesn’t show up, we score forty runs, and on nights like Wednesday when we only score three, you got guys throwing one hitters. It really must be frustrating for other teams having to play us. Who in our lineup are you supposed to pitch to? Scutaro? Salty? Well they are all hitting now too!
I just hope that they can continue this hot pace now that all of my attention will be back on them. There are no more Bruins to distract me, it’s just me and you baby, and we got a long summer ahead of us.
