The Sweep Is Complete
[Insert long rambling post here]
Wow – what a ride that was, huh? I’m not even sure what to say. I really though the Canucks would give us all we could handle and that game seven would be a toss up at best. But they really never had a chance, did they? Timmy Thomas just wasn’t going to let it happen tonight. He was in straight up beast mode and you get the feeling that this thing could have gone to 10 overtimes and he would still be in there grinding away, not even letting a puck sniff the back of that net. I think I may be forced to watch more than five regular season games next year now. I mean, it’s the least I can do, right? They are Stanley Cup champions. It’s one thing to hop on and ride the bandwagon once, but it’s probably in poor form to do so again next year, it just wouldn’t feel right. How many games do I have to watch until I turn my pink hat in for a real one?
Patriots in 2001, 2003, & 2005
Red Sox in 2004 & 2007
Celtics in 2008
Bruins in 2011
Do you guys realize how ridiculous this is? I was only 14 when the Patriots started the greatest run in American sports back in 2001. Really, winning is all I know. I can’t imagine what it must be like for people everywhere else in the country. Standing outside and looking in, I can’t blame people for hating Boston. For those of you counting at home, that’s at least one title, for every team, in only a six year span. SIX YEARS! I don’t even have to go to Google to tell you that it’s never been done before. (I really hope I’m right)
Last thing, I tweeted this earlier, but the Patriots are now the team in town with the longest drought since their last championship. Something about that sentence just doesn’t seem right. Tom, Bill, you guys need to get on it, stat.
